Celtic Events in the Black Hills and Surrounding Area

Dakota Celts at ST.Pat's Day Parade 2007

Dakota Celts

An exciting group representing all area Celts, meets the last Thursday of each month at the CELTS HALL
at Central States Fair, from 6:30pm onward, in Rapid City. For further details contact Charlie Weir,
President,  at Black Hills Celtic Shop 605-388-0281, or go to: www.DakotaCelts.com

National Tartan Day, April 6th, Downtown Walkabout
Since 1998, by Act of Congress, each April 6th is designated National Tartan Day, to honour those of Scottish descent and
their contributions to the culture of America. Here in Rapid City, we stage a "sidewalk parade" from the Black Hills Celtic Shop
and walk around dressed in Tartan, to proclaim our proud heritage and celebrate the day. We like to call this somewhat impromptu
event "Scaring The Locals", and we begin at 5:30pm from the Black Hills Celtic Shop, then wander in a group in the Downtown,
along the sidewalks (too cheap for a parade permit...) until we change our minds. Wear plenty of tartan as the weather promises to
be a bit nippy on Friday.
